Can Film Wellington find me a job?

 

No. Film Wellington is not a job placement agency. However we do post employment opportunities from time to time on this website.

 

Does Film Wellington provide opportunities for internships?

 

No. Our office is small and very busy so unfortunately we are not able to take on interns.

 

Do I need a film permit to film in the Wellington region?

 

Yes, film permits are required for most production projects. Film Wellington offers a fast permitting process for all locations in Wellington. See our film permit application form.

 

How much does a film permit cost?

 

Permits are free, but there may be a charge for the location or other services related to your filming eg location fee, parking, traffic management, road closure. Visit our permit page to complete your  application.

 

How long does it take to get film permit approval?

 

With simple shoots, permits can usually be approved within 24 hours. However, more complex shoots, such as those requiring road closures or the need to apply for resource consents, can take a little longer Contact us to find out more. But if you need it tomorrow, contact us by phone NOW!

What funding or investment is available for incoming screen productions?

 

Information on the Screen Production Grant Scheme is available on the New Zealand Film Commission website.

 

How can I find out what productions are due to shoot in the Wellington region?

 

We can only give this information out if the production company has agreed. With most large budget feature films we sign a confidentiality form which instructs us not to reveal any information. With television commercials the agency will rarely reveal the product or client until the commercial has screened on air.

 

What productions have filmed in the Wellington region?

 

Numerous feature films and television productions have filmed in our area.  We do not have a comprehensive list, but the Internet Movie Database has identified the following:  Wellington Productions.

 

How can I be an extra?

 

Film Wellington will post any extra/talent opportunities for current productions on this website, whenever the production company makes that information available.

 

How can I get into the industry as a crew member?

 

If you are new to the industry you need to build on your experience. Contact the Heads of Department within your area of experience or interest. Send out your CV to production companies (see our online database for listings) stating your area of interest and any industry related qualifications or experience (ie HT licence, first aid certificate, short film, video clips etc). Sometimes it’s just a matter of being in the right place at the right time.

 

How can I get my property listed for a film project?

 

Film Wellington has a location library which is used to source properties and/or locations for film production companies. We will be happy to add your location to our list. Please contact us for more information.

 

How can I get myself/my child into the business?

 

There are a number of agents who can give you advice on becoming an actor and/or extra. See our database for contacts.
